Here’s how to keep it going. (Maintenance)

FAQs help when answering common questions, but let’s face it, the real questions are more like: “What th--” or “How the heck”, right? There are some simple maintenance steps you can take with your Zojirushi Breadmaker that will help to prevent a lot of these problems, or when daily usage has worn parts down and when to change them.

Daily Care

Easy daily care starts here

  • Clean Main Body

Wipe down the outside and inside with a soft dry cloth to keep it clean—our breadmakers are streamlined in shape so it’s easy to clean.

  • Baking Pan & Kneading Blades

Don’t scrape with metallic tools—instead just use dish soap and a soft sponge to clean dough remnants off the pan and blades.

  • Baking Pan

Use only non-abrasive sponges. Scratching the surface will cause corrosion, resulting in uneven baking and difficulty releasing the bread.

  • Dough Remnants

Soften by soaking with lukewarm water, but avoid leaving for too long. This may cause corrosion or the blade shaft may stop rotating.

  • Dough Remnants

Wash after every use. For a stuck blade, soften around the blade with warm water, then jiggle it by holding the wing nut underneath the pan.

  • Blade Shaft

These should be cleaned regularly with dish soap and warm water, taking care not to scratch the parts in the sealed area.

Long Term Maintenance

Tips for using the products for a long time

  • Cleaning Dos and Don’ts

All the parts can be cleaned with basic dish soap, a soft sponge and warm water. Don’t use abrasive cleansers, chemicals or hard brushes.

  • Useful Tools

Wooden chopsticks are a good tool that can get into hard-to-reach areas without scratching. Small nylon brushes can also work well.

  • Heater Area

Immediately clean if bread crumbs or debris get trapped here—it can start to burn the next time you bake bread.

  • Long Term Storage 1

Thoroughly clean the baking pan, kneading blades and add dispenser (if applicable). Leaving debris in the pan could damage the nonstick coating.

  • Long Term Storage 2

Thoroughly dry after deep cleaning. Moisture in hidden areas could cause mold to grow.

  • Long Term Storage 3

Wash all accessories like measuring cups and spoons. Keep them in the baking pan so you don’t lose them.

Time to Replace

When to Replace

  • If the motor spins the blade shafts but the blades do not spin, the inside of the blade has worn out. Replace with a new one.

  • If the motor is running but the blade shafts do not spin, they have become jammed into the baking pan assembly. Replace with a new pan.

  • Any visible wear on the nonstick coating of the baking pan or kneading blade may cause corrosion—replacing them is recommended.

  • Instruction Manuals

Refer to the manuals for troubleshooting tips—they contain useful information and advice on how to care for your Zojirushi product.
